Project Overview
LaCrosse, Wisconsin
The replacement of the stadium and athletic/recreational fields on the University of Wisconsin – LaCrosse Campus was funded by gifts from students, alumni and the local community. Community use of this facility is extremely high, serving multiple local high school football programs, high school football playoff games, high school track events, Bugle Corps practice and it hosts the annual State WIAA Track & Field Competition with nearly 20,000 spectators and participants over the two day event. And with all of this it is also the home for UW-L football, track & field, soccer and recreational fields.
The design creates a new 8,000 seat spectator stadium for track & football and multiple support facilities (lockers, toilets, concessions etc.). It also significantly redeveloped the surrounding site, creating a new soccer venue, additional field event venues and multiple recreation fields. The construction cost was $13 million. With the high importance and visibility of the annual WIAA Track & Field competition, construction occurred between the 2008 and 2009 competitions.
