Project Overview
The one-story addition had to seamlessly flow from the existing building and maximize the volume in the space while not blocking resident windows on the second floor. This was accomplished by blending the old with the new while adding as much glass to the exterior as possible, along with a major skylight in the center of the addition. The space is terminated by a new fireplace that is housed in an arched wood ceiling space. Exterior sitting areas were also designed into the final site design. Exterior material cues were also taken from an adjacent historic municipal voting building that is on the property and dates from the 1920’s.
