Project Overview
This project consists of a new 26,650 SF Field Maintenance Shop with two general purpose work bays, two special purpose work bays, plus administrative, personnel and work areas. Supporting facilities include military and private vehicle parking, fencing, fuel storage and dispensing system, loading ramp, controlled waste handling facility, flammable material facility, unheated enclosed vehicle storage facility of 7,426 SF, outside security lighting, and access roads. Physical security measures were incorporated into design including maximum feasible standoff distance from roads, parking areas, and vehicle unloading areas, berms, heavy landscaping, and bollards to prevent access when standoff distances cannot be maintained. Construction of this new facility provides adequate space to maintain and repair military vehicles and equipment belonging to units supported by this shop. Construction took place on a 34.82 acre parcel and planning also accounts for a future National Guard Readiness Center (Armory) associated POV parking, a Vehicle Storage Building and associated MEP parking. The new FMS #13 was designed and constructed using sustainable design concepts and will attain a LEED “Silver” certification. The vehicle maintenance training bay requires a fluid/lubricant distribution system, a waste oil collection system, compressed air system, and a vehicle exhaust evacuation system.
