Project Overview
The LaCrescent-Hokah School District expanded its existing facilities by adding 19 new classrooms, three computer labs, a 600 seat auditorium, media center, music facilities and a 10,000 sf gymnasium. The biggest challenge was to design a separate identity for the middle school addition to the existing high school. This was accomplished by creating a well defined middle school wing with controlled access. The exterior is designed with Romanesque detailing to relate to the school’s “Lancers” mascot. The project added a total of 85,000 sf and remodeled 15,000 sf. The entire facility now has 195,000 sf and accommodates grades 6-12. Numerous community wide workshops were held for public participation in the planning process.
